The spices, sights and sounds of Latin America splash Sabahan shores as Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu opens Rumba Latin Grill and Bar, the first Latin-themed dinner and dance outlet in all of Borneo.

Located on Le Meridien’s Sinsuran side, Rumba offers everything that you could hope to expect from Latin life: Cuban cigars, rum, spicy food, Spanish wine, and a lot of pulse-pounding jabanero-hot Latin music.

Rumba features a band straight from Colombia, Tropicaribe. The four-piece group has toured all over Asia, having performed in India, Thailand, Kuala Lumpur, and most recently China. Jhon Torres, Diana Castromahecha, Eider Correa and Milton Villareal work to create a unique band of music that is authentically Latin.

Throwing salsa, meringue, cha cha cha, bolero, bachata, bossa nova and much more into their performance, the band is sure to keep you dancing all night long. Armed with a repertoire of over 400 songs, Tropicaribe is more that prepared to entertain, promising something delicious for both the eyes and ears each time you come.

And the buck certainly doesn’t stop there. Rumba has everything awesome about the Latin party lifestyle in full stock. A wide variety of dishes, snacks and spiced seafood barbecues that draw influence from the entire spectrum of Latin and South American food. Expect salsas, quesadillas and tortilla dishes aplenty.

An impressive spread of drinks us also available, with all the bar staples being present. Several wonderful wines shipped in from Spain, Chile, Argentina and Cuba are in stock and are meant to go well with both your dinner and your dancing, as will Rumba’s extensive collection of Cuban cigars. A whole slew of exciting cocktails, such as mojitos, caipirinhas and the always alluring daiquiri round out the selection.

“There is no better word in Spanish to describe the Latin lifestyle,” says the Westin Kuala Lumpur;s Alfredo Hernandez, Operations Manager for Food and Beverage, himself a Cuban national who came to help out with the Rumba’s opening.

“Rumba’ means party, and we do that really well. We sing, we dance, if there are drinks, we drink, and if there’s food, we eat. The Latin concept is a wide one, allowing not just Cuban or Brazilian influence but all these cultures to come into play. The result will be great products and great entertainment.”

“Anybody who likes to have fun is invited to come to Rumba,” continues Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu’s General Manager Urs Weisskopf. “Anybody who likes to dance, to party, to have wine and dine will surely find Rumba a great place to be.”

Brace yourself for the best in Latin food, wine, music and entertainment, only at Rumba Latin Bar and Grill.
